BIOGRAPHY

DR. RANDA GARRANA is an Ophthalmologist who specializes in Cornea and Refractive Surgery (Vision Correction Surgery). Dr Garrana is a highly experienced refractive surgeon who is among a small handful of eye surgeons in this country to rank in the top 1% in vision correction experience. After receiving her M.D. degree from the American University of Beirut School of Medicine, Dr. Garrana joined the Georgetown University Center for Sight in Washington D.C. for a pre-residency research fellowship in Corneal wound healing. Two years and five major scientific publications later, she joined the New York University Medical Center for Internship training, from there to Montefiore hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine for residency training in Ophthalmology.

Throughout her residency training, Dr. Garrana continued to do scientific research to understand the clinical effects of LASIK and PRK on the cornea and vision. Her impressive research and academic record at that time earned her acceptance into the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School. There, she received subspecialty training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery from the most renowned ophthalmologists in the world. Throughout her years of training, she received many honors and commendations for her scientific research contributions.

Dr. Garrana moved from Boston to Southern California in July of 1998 where she started in private practice as a cornea and refractive surgeon. To date she has performed over forty thousand LASIK procedures as well as thousands of other vision correction procedures with an impressive success rate. She is constantly involved in different clinical projects evaluating the latest technology and advances in the field of Cornea and Vision Correction Surgery.

She is a well rounded ophthalmologist who has performed numerous corneal transplants and anterior segment reconstruction procedures as well as hundreds of small incision cataract surgery under topical anesthesia. Dr. Garrana consults on various anterior segment problems and various surgical complications.
